Code Red: UN scientists warn of worsening global warming!

The United Nations has issued a statement called “Code Red for Humanity.” The recently released report emphasizes that the Earth is getting hotter day by day and the time will come very soon that the planet Earth will be burning hell for everyone. The temperature will become hotter and will blow past the level of warnings that past leaders sought to prevent. The environment is beyond repair and before it’s too late start repairing.

“It’s just guaranteed that it’s going to get worse,” said report co-author Linda Mearns, a senior climate scientist at the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research. “Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.” But scientists also eased back on the decision that the absolute worst of the climatic conditions is yet to come and something has to be done to avoid the circumstances.

The next report by The Authoritative Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns the world of climate catastrophic conditions caused by humans is “unequivocal” and a certain fact that is more precise and accurate for this 21st century. The last time scientists issued this warning was in the year 2013.

In the Paris 2015 climate summit, there were five scenarios set for the future based on how humans will behave with the present condition and resources. If they reduce the carbon emissions which passes two major regulations set in the year 2015 climate summit. Moreover, the world leaders previously signed a treaty to make every effort to reduce the temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius ( 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) above levels to limit the warming in the late 19th century. But problems quickly escalated after that with more erosions, pollution and other human activities corroding the Earth thus leading to more warming.

The world has already been warming up to 1.1 degrees Celsius since the last summit( 2 degrees Fahrenheit ) held in Paris. By the 2030s scientists expect the rise to reach 1.5 degrees Celsius and this mark is earlier than all warnings given in the past years.

According to the data the warming levels of the Earth have been up lately due to human negligence. Heat waves that were not a natural phenomenon 50 years ago in the late 19th century have been occurring more often in the preceding decade to all human advancement and modern living lifestyle. The report also highlights the fact that what will happen if the rise goes by one mark only.

The warning levels will stop only when humans start to reduce their carbon emissions and try different ways to save nature. “Our report shows that we need to be prepared for going into that level of warming in the coming decades. But we can avoid further levels of warming by acting on greenhouse gas emissions,” said report co-chair Valerie Masson-Delmotte, a climate scientist at France’s Laboratory of Climate and Environment Sciences at the University of Paris-Saclay.

Total of five scenarios, in three circumstances the temperature may rise beyond two degrees Celsius ( 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) with these technologies and over pre-industrial times. These two degrees will be less stringent goals that world leaders decided in the past Paris summit.

The world will experience far worse heat waves, droughts, famine, flood inducing downpours, glacier melting and wildfires unless and until something is done to reduce carbon emissions. “This report tells us that recent changes in the climate are widespread, rapid and intensifying, unprecedented in thousands of years,” said IPCC Vice-Chair Ko Barrett, senior climate adviser for the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

In November, world leaders will once again meet to set some rules in the international climate negotiations held in Scotland. According to the report, leaders are trying very hard to make both ends meet and to cut carbon emissions as soon as possible. This summit is a ” stark reminder,” as said by the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

234 scientists from across the globe documented a 3,000 plus page report to highlight the fact that global warming is indeed accelerating the rising sea levels and worsening extreme phenomena like floods, heatwaves, glacier melting, droughts, storms among other things.

Arctic sea ice is gradually dwindling in summers, permafrost is thawing and most of all tropical cyclones are getting stronger, wetter and more hazardous day by day. The report summarizes all these trends going in worsening conditions. Taking an example is that the heatwave that used to have a gradual rise of one Celsius every fifty years would now easily get one degree warmer in just seven years or less. And the more shocking thing is that this phenomenon can occur maybe twice or thrice per seven years.

As the earth gets warmer day by day due to human activities, many parts of the planet will receive multiple climate disasters at once and more extreme weather conditions as per the UN report.

There are several examples and cases that humans can witness right now, the things humans have led to rain havoc on them. For example, the eastern US is witnessing some conditions like intense heat waves, drought, wildfires and these calamities have come together with no route no escape from the pandemic already wrecking lives. Countries like Greece and Turkey are seeing some devastating wildfires spreading and destroying acres of land.

We can also see threefold dwindling ice sheets, rising sea levels along changes in atmospheric pressure. Oceans losing their oxygen to become more acidic, thus killing millions of marine lives underneath. The report by the UN states that this change is,” irreversible for centuries to millennia.” Yet we are still destroying our dear lives to live in comfort.

The planet is locked in a small cage and with 15 to 30 centimetres (6 to 12 inches) rising sea levels by mid-century could result in disaster, says report co-author Bob Kopp of Rutgers University. Scientists are constantly trying to let the world hear the whisper, now their screams have gone neglected for more than three decades, announces United Nations Environment Program Executive Director Inger Andersen. This time the report compiled by the UN is an interactive atlas for humans to understand the signs that will probably affect their future. These signs are telling what can happen or is about to happen very soon. All the warming the planet is suffering from is due to emissions that are heat-trapping gaseous components such as methane, carbon dioxide, etc. According to the report, natural forces or simple randomness can shed light on these emissions.

Scientists have further illustrated five models or future scenarios that can help us to reduce carbon emissions to save our planet. The UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres has described this report as “code red for humanity.”
