On Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Gates, officially announced that they will be soon going for a divorce, as per their mutual decision. Bill and Melinda Gates, who for decades were overseen as one of greatest fortunes and philanthropic operations, will be ending their marriage of 27 years. Certainly, the vast portfolio of business and real estate holdings and into the realms of global health, climate change policy and social issues including equality for women will be impacted.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the couple holds an estimated revenue of about $146 billion. This is to say, that the couple never gave any hints of their financial plans. However, they have always focused that they will cooperate on continuing their philanthropy.
The pair tweeted, “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.” The couple first met in the 1980s, when Melinda joined Bill’s Microsoft firm. Notably, the billionaire pair have three children. In collaboration, they both manage the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Also, they furthermore mentioned in their tweet, “We have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.”
Notably, Bill Gates, the 65-year-old co-founder of Microsoft, is considered to be the world’s fourth-richest person. On the other hand, his wife, Melinda Gates, 56, is a former Microsoft manager. Thus, she gained the international prominence by co-running the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Although, the pair made it clear that they will remain co-chairpersons and trustees of the foundation. This information was given by the spokesperson of the organisation in an written emailed statement.
