No life on Venus, But Jupiter offers potential, claim experts!

Venus is all full of clouds made up of thick carbon dioxide atmosphere and sulphuric acid. Due to its dry surface, the planet is not efficient enough to support life. Thus, the experts are now seeking Jupiter, if it does.

A study was done, last year, which stated that Venus could support life after researchers detected phosphine gas, which is produced by bacteria on Earth, in its more temperate clouds.

As per a recently published note in journal, ‘Nature Astronomy,’ the water concentration present in our nearest neighbor’s is made up of sulphuric acid clouds. Thus, it makes the planet too dry for life, and hence there is no further hope of survival over there.

John Hallsworth, a Microbiologist clarified, “We discovered a terrestrial fungus in 2017 that is capable of surviving at 58.5% relative humidity — the driest conditions a living creature has ever withstood. it was decided to test whether they could exist on other planets.”

In the press conference, John added to his statement and noted, “We bent over backward to argue that the most extreme, tolerant microbes on Earth could potentially have activity on Venus.”

The team of John also did a detailed analysis on the ‘water activity of the planet. The team concluded and wrote, “Its concentration of water molecules, rather than the actual quantity of water, to come to their conclusion.” The expert further states, “It’s more than 100 times too low. It’s almost at the bottom of the scale, at an unbridgeable distance from what life requires to be active.”

The co-author, Philip Ball also shared his point and said, “The search for extraterrestrial life has sometimes been a bit simplistic in its attitude to water. As our work shows, it’s not enough to say that liquid water equates with habitability. We’ve got to think too about how Earth-like organisms actually use it – which shows us that we then have to ask how much of the water is actually available for those biological uses.”
