Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

Disney’s Marvel Studios began off the weekend of festivities at this year’s Comic-Con Experience (CCXP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with panels for the expo, with huge announcements ahead of the franchise’s Phase 5.

At the panels, director James Gunn and the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the third and final instalment in Gunn’s Marvel Cinematic Universe trilogy, debuted the film’s first official trailer.

CCXP got right to work

On Thursday, CCXP got right to work with the panels for Phase 5’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the third and final instalment of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. Director James Gunn was hesitant to debut the first trailer for his third and final Guardians of the Galaxy film at San Diego Comic-Con in July due to problems with visual effects shots, but he has now finally unveiled the footage.

Gamora (Zoe Saldana)

Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is seen working with the Ravagers and trying to break the news to Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) that the Gamora he once knew is gone in the trailer. The soundtrack will undoubtedly represent Star-deep Lord’s appreciation for music, as it did for the previous two heroes.

Gunn utilises Spacehog’s “In the Meantime” for the trailer as the Guardians embark on their final mission.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

We knew Vol. 3 would be the most emotionally charged of the three films even before the trailer debuted. Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the Gamora that joins Quill’s gang of heroic thieves isn’t the same one that fell in love with him in the earlier flicks.

Along with the existing sad themes, the next installment will add new villains including Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary, as well as some heartbreaking backstory on Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon.

Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special launched

Earlier this month, Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special launched exclusively on Disney+ as a wonderful Christmas surprise for fans. The fun special not only introduced actor Kevin Bacon to the MCU but also gave us scene after scene of Drax (Bautista) and Mantis (Klementieff) riffing off each other.

The shocking news that Mantis is actually Quill’s sister and that Kurt Russell’s Ego is also her father was revealed in the GotG holiday special. Groot (Vin Diesel) has had a growth spurt since we last saw him, and we also found out that the Guardians have bought Know here from the Collector (Benicia del Toro), basically adopted Cosmo the Spacedog (Maria Bakalova), and are now travelling aboard a new ship, Bowie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 Released Date

So buckle up, because on May 5, 2023, the second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 will debut in theatres: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
