The insanity of “Twisters,” the follow-up to the great 1996 movie, will arrive in the summer of 2024. The film, which has Universal’s endorsement, is slated to hit theatres on July 19, 2024.

According to the current schedule, “Twisters” will open in theatres one week before “Thunderbolt” and the same weekend as “Transformers: A New Generation” (Paramount) (Marvel).
Lee Isaac Chung, who was nominated for numerous Oscars for directing “Minari,” is the director of “Twisters.” The script for this film was co-written by Mark L. Smith, who also co-wrote “The Revenant,” which was directed by Alejandro G. Iárritu and starred Leonardo DiCaprio.

Twister, starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, generated over $500 million worldwide when movie was released in 1996, creating quite a stir at the box office. Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin collaborated on the initial draught of the script. Paxton and Hunt, two storm chasers who had split up but later reconciled to follow the storm of the century in Oklahoma, were at the centre of the story. It was praised for the inventive use of special effects.
Twisters Budget
The budget for “Twisters” will include funding from Warner Bros. Pictures. Frank Marshall, who has worked on “The Sixth Sense,” “The Color Purple,” and the “Indiana Jones,” “Bourne,” and “Jurassic World” franchises, is producing through Kennedy/Marshall.
For Universal, senior VP of production Sara Scott and creative executive Jacqueline Garell, and for Kennedy/Marshall, executive VP of production Ashley Jay Sandberg, will be in charge of the project.
